Hi, Just testing to make sure everything on here works and offering a little description of this project. Welcome to the site where we, the people who hang out in Detroit, will be compiling information on what plants can be found growing on their own around the city. If you identify a weed, shrub, fruit plant, or tree popping up in one of the many unplanned natural spaces around town, please add it on here. Those four categories are just what I came up with on the spot. I have started those as threads. Please add plant identifications as comments under the appropriate thread. If you don't think your plant fits in one of those categories, propose a new one in this thread and we'll get that straightened out! The major point of this, however, is to get our collective knowledge of the plants in Detroit all in one place (here) so that we can start the process of sorting it out into a guide. Once we have a Detroit-specific guide to wild plants, our hope is that more people can use that knowledge to create a certain type of agency in their relationship with the unplanned natural spaces.
